Happy Parents
Who are we?

Parents’ Voice is a group of parents who aim to influence change on issues that are important to parents in Worcestershire.

As a group, we are parents who care for our children and want to make a difference for them.

As parents we raise awareness with people who make decisions in our county about the need to talk to parents and listen to them when making change.  We want to encourage more parents to have a say and make a difference.

Core Membership

This is a group of parents who meet regularly (monthly) and decide on the direction of the group and put into action the Parents' Voice Steering Group action plan.  We share information with parents about the changes and developments to services for children, young people and their families and ensure that their views are fed back to the highest level.

We gather parent's views in several different ways:

  • Consultation
  • Newsletter
  • Webpages
  • Newspaper articles
  • Feedback from our extended membership
  • Questionnaires
  • Workshops.
  • Extended Membership
    • Every parent and carer in Worcestershire can join as an extended member.
    • Ideal for parents who do not want to commit to formal meetings
    • Includes both individual parents and existing parent groups such as
      • Parent Councils in schools
      • Parent Forums in Children’s Centres
      • Special Needs support groups

    Who we work with

We try to work with as many people as possible. We want parents' voices to be heard and influence decisions where they will have the most power. We think it is really important for parent in local communities to influence what happens in those areas but also use that opinion to effect change across the whole county.

The structure chart shows how your voice can be heard and who we listen to. This is not an exhaustive list and we keep on growing.  We aim to reach all parents and carers in Worcestershire, this may take us a long time but we think we can do it.

    Links to Worcestershire County Council

Though we are an independent group and we are not attached to any one group we do have close working relationships with the County Council and Health Services.  We advise and influence the decisions made by these groups at their invitation.  We see this as a positive and productive relationship.  We are able to sit in meetings where main strategic decisions are made and feed parents voices straight in at the top.

We are supported by the County Council by the Parent Engagement Advisor and have a seat on the Children's Trust Board.

This is not are only partnership and we have attached links for you to some of our partners and other services who want to hear your voice.
