We share useful information for parents on social media (Twitter and Facebook) and through email updates – so what have we shared in June?

Well, it’s been exam season (which can be stressful for the whole family), so information about anxiety and getting through exams has been popular.

Child Safety Week concentrated on Family Life today (and potential dangers from our modern lifestyle). Did you know that hot drinks are the number one cause of serious scald injuries among babies and young children?  The Children’s Burns Trust has useful information, facts, figures and first aid advice. The Child Accident Prevention Trust’s 5 essential top tips are simple but effective – with links to other useful information.

21st June was Stop Cyberbullying Day, co-ordinated by the CyberSmile Foundation. We reminded people about Internet Matters’ Stop Speak Support code of conduct (with parents’ advice here: http://bit.ly/IMstspsupPA). West Mercia Police’s animations about cyberbullying may be useful for both parents and young people. There’s also advice about cyberbullying on social networks here http://bit.ly/FLbulsm19 (from Bullying UK)..

We’ve also been telling people about Worcestershire’s Get Safe campaign (run by Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and West Mercia Police) to protect children and young people from criminal exploitation. Raising awareness is important and the campaign is supported by other organisations (including Worcester Warriors, Kidderminster Harriers and Worcester Wolves).

We regularly share information about mental health and support for families; Young Minds Crisis Messenger Service provides help 24/7 to any young person (up to the age of 25)  who needs urgent support with their mental health. The Kooth service has articles and information but also offers online counselling to youngsters in Worcestershire (http://bit.ly/KoothXZ2).

We’ve shared lots more too! In case you’re wondering, we don’t get paid to share any information and we aim to give parents links to relevant  free information from reputable organisations/people. Check out our Useful Information page and let us know if there’s anything you’d like that’s not there!

Would you like our email updates? It’s easy – we just need your email address! You can also follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page.

That’s all for now, come back soon!
