#WorcestershireHour Social Media Awards

We don’t usually make a fuss or blow our own trumpet, but this news is so exciting we have to say something!

We were nominated for the #WorcestershireHour Social Media Awards 2022 – and it was announced on Friday 6th May that we’re finalists!

Parents’ Voice are shortlisted finalists for three awards: Best Use of Twitter by a Charity/NFP, Best Use of Facebook by a Charity/NFP/Public Sector, and the Covid-19 Heart Award (this was a total surprise). The first two categories will be judged by a small panel and the third will be an open vote.

#WorcestershireHour is a “local” hour which takes place on Monday evenings and (now) Wednesday lunchtimes on Twitter.  It began on 6th May 2013 as an hour when local businesses could tweet and connect; founder Stuart Allen, has not missed a single Monday evening since then (incredible!).  We’ve been taking part since its second week (we’re not a business and asked if it was OK for a nonprofit to take part) and we’ve seen the community grow over time.

The Social Media Awards have taken a break for a few years, but they’re back in 2022. We don’t know who nominated us, but Thank You – it’s a real honour that someone likes what we do enough to make a nomination.

We are totally stunned that we are finalists and humbled to be included with such awesome company (the other finalists are all simply wonderful so it’s amazing to be shortlisted with them); we are so grateful to the #WorcestershireHour community for all the support they’ve given us over the years. The winners will be announced on 1st July, so congratulations and good luck to everyone who’s been shortlisted.  We often say that everyone’s a winner with #WorcestershireHour (it has helped us to reach so many families in Worcestershire) and we believe that – well done and thank you to everyone who takes part in “the Hour”, you have made it a winning community to be proud of.

Thank You, Sue (Chair)

Virtual Coffee and Chats – Spring and Summer 2022

Our Virtual Coffee and Chats are continuing (dates to be confirmed, watch this space).  All parents are welcome – and anyone else who helps with their family’s childcare too (eg: grandparents).

These chats are always friendly and non-judgemental;  we talk about all sorts of things (apart from politics). You’re welcome to join in for a few minutes or the whole session.

Please contact us if you would like to join us for some informal chat online.

Your choice of drink (and food too!).

Parents and other family carers welcome (whatever age your child is).

Email <info@parentsvoice.co.uk> with the subject “Coffee” if you are interested in taking part.

Open General Meeting – Update

Thank you to everyone who came to our Open General Meeting online in April.

We reported what we’ve been doing (especially during the pandemic) and discussed future plans.  We intend to hold some online information sessions and open committee meetings during the year, and to take part in events in person where possible.

If you’d like to help us in any way (just 15 minutes/week would be useful), please email <info@parentsvoice.co.uk> with the subject “Volunteer” – we’d love to talk with you about what you’d like to do or could do!
