Open General Meeting – 24th May 2024
This year’s Open General Meeting will now take place online (Zoom) on 24th May.
We have rescheduled this meeting from April to May due to unforeseen circumstances (which meant some people were likely to be unable to attend, including one of our committee members). Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
We’ll be reporting on what we’ve been doing (including some of the challenges and successes of the last year) and discussing plans for the future of Parents’ Voice (including the election of our committee members).
Some committee members are stepping back so we really need some more people to come forward to join the committee and/or help with running Parents’ Voice; if nobody comes forward, Parents’ Voice is likely to close (which none of us want). If you might be interested, please contact Sue <parentsvoiceworc@gmail.com>.
You can join the meeting here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86579446518?pwd=UkU5KzZXWjZ4ZmtMQzlGYi91TjBZZz09.
If there is a problem with using this link on the day, please email Sue <parentsvoiceworc@gmail.com>. If we know in advance of any change, we will put the link on this page (so please check back on the day).

Virtual Coffee and Chats in 2023
We held our first online Coffee/Tea and Chat of the year in March. There will be more happening in 2023 – the next event will probably be in late May or June.
All parents are welcome – and anyone else who helps with their family’s childcare too (eg: grandparents).
These chats are always friendly and non-judgemental; we talk about all sorts of things (apart from politics). You’re welcome to join in for a few minutes or the whole session.
Please contact us (see below) if you would like to join us for some informal chat online.
Your choice of drink (and food too – biscuits/cake/apple/!).
Email Sue at <parentsvoiceworc@gmail.com> with the subject “Coffee” if you are interested in taking part.

Some Parents’ Voice News From 2022 –
#WorcestershireHour Social Media Awards 2022
We don’t usually make a fuss or blow our own trumpet, but this news is so exciting we have to say something! We won some awards!
We were nominated for three Worcestershire Social Media Awards 2022 and were shortlisted as a finalist for all three.
How did we do at the Awards Ceremony? We received bronze award for Best Use of Twitter by a Charity/NFP, the Silver award for the Covid-19 Heart Award and Gold (Category Winner) for Best Use of Facebook by a Charity/NFP/Public Sector.
The Twitter and Facebook categories were judged by a small panel and the Covid-19 Heart Award was an open vote (so thank you to everyone who voted for us).
#WorcestershireHour is a “local” hour which takes place on Monday evenings and (now) Wednesday lunchtimes on Twitter. It began on 6th May 2013 as an hour when local businesses could tweet and connect; founder Stuart Allen, has not missed a single Monday evening since then (incredible!). We’ve been taking part since its second week (we’re not a business and asked if it was OK for a non-profit group to take part) and we’ve seen the community grow over time.
The Social Media Awards took a break for a few years, but came back in 2022. We don’t know who nominated us, but Thank You – we were stunned to be finalists and feel so proud (and rather surprised) that we’ve had an award in each of the categories.
We are so grateful to the #WorcestershireHour community for all the support they’ve given us over the years. We often say that everyone’s a winner with #WorcestershireHour (it has helped us to reach so many families in Worcestershire) and we believe that – well done and thank you to everyone who takes part in “the Hour”, you have made it a winning community to be proud of.
Finally, thank you to Mo at the Worcester Whitehouse Hotel who arranged a ticket for me to attend the Awards Night (no Parents’ Voice funds were spent!) – we were delighted that they were category winner for the Covid-19 Heart Award.
Thank You, Sue (Chair of Parents’ Voice)
